It was announced by Google that Google Apps for Business Gmail is HIPAA Compliant.
The HIPAA organization has confirmed this.
This is good news for doctors, health care professionals, clinics and hospitals, who can now benefit from Google’s low cost mail servers using Google Apps for Business and Google Drive for Work with unlimited storage for each user. Google’s reliability and security, encrypted message and storage service, and ease of use makes this a viable choice. Google Apps for Work is required to be HIPAA Compliant (the free Gmail account doesn’t qualify).
